Morning Show

For more than a half century, residents all over West Arkansas have been waking up to KLYR's informative and entertaining Morning Show. With so many other stations showcasing announcers who can't seem to keep their mouths shut, KLYR knows it's "not about us, but ALL about the LISTENER!"

Our perfect blend of music and entertainment keeps the listener listening longer.  And, at the same time, we know how to make sure the informative elements...such as time, weather forecast, our exclusive and timely severe storms coverage, events from around the region, and our popular birthday and anniversary announcements are timed exactly when listeners need them.

In short, we say what needs to be said...and then "shut up".  (Something a lot of announcers in the radio industry have a problem with.)

Mix all that with the valley's favorite radio show, the Peoples Exchange, and you've got a winning recipe for both listeners and advertisers alike!

Peoples Exchange

If any one program would be labeled the blood of KLYR, it would surely be our very popular "Peoples Exchange". Two times daily, West-Arkansans come together in one voice on the valley's favorite talk show. Need to buy, sell, or trade? Lost your pet, wallet, or other personal article? Most in this are will tell you... "You'll probably find it on the Peoples Exchange". Peoples Exchange can be heard at 7:00am each morning...and then again for a FULL HOUR at 12:00-Noon, Monday through Friday on KLYR AM & FM.

West Arkansas' Best Variety of Music

Being a "real community radio station" also means being unrestricted by the nationally syndicated networks heard on most other stations. Many people are already realizing that the DJ's and other announcers they hear on radio stations aren't actually from the station's local studios.  They're "piped in" by satellite...and have no idea at all about the people they're talking to from their New York or California network studios.

At KLYR, every single bit of programming you hear comes directly from our local studios and from your local community.  That means we are able to select our own music...every single song. And, after over a half century in West Arkansas, we know how to select the music which pleases the most listeners possible!

KLYR features the finest quality in country music today...even independent artists who don't get airplay on any other radio station in the valley. With that, we're used to hearing,,,

"I hear songs on KLYR that I don't hear anywhere else!"

Add to that our wide library of classic, but not forgotten, hits from as far back as the 50s...and the largest Bluegrass library in the region...and you've got a variety of music unmatched by any other station in West Arkansas...and a format that draws listeners from all ages. You've also got a variety of songs that keeps listeners dial on KLYR all day and all night.

S
evere Storms Coverage

At KLYR, we're not only the area's "radio station"...we're also "neighbors and family" to those we serve.  So we're, of course, always concerned about the safety of those we love...and have gont to great lengths to ensure as many as possibly are notified as far ahead of time when severe weather threatens.

Using the latest information gathering technology possible and our many storm spotters around the region, we're able to track storms as the approach from as far as a hundred miles away or more...and keep listeners up to date on the directions those storms are taking.

That's why, when the weather gets bad outside, listeners throughout West Arkansas LISTEN CLOSER...because they know they'll always be informed on KLYR's Skywatch Forecasts and Exclusive Severe Warning System.

Sunday Morning Hymntime

For decades, listeners have enjoyed KLYR's selection of hymns from artists such as Tennessee Ernie Ford, George Beverly Shea, The Lundstrums, Gaither Vocal Band, and more.  From five to nine each Sunday morning, KLYR provides the gentle wake-up call for West-Arkansans as they prepare for church or other Sunday activities.
